Assistant Director Communication at County Government of Kakamega

The promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, introduced the devolved system of Government which resulted to the formation of the 47 Counties across the Country, Kakamega County being among them. Kakamega County is located in the western region of the country with an area of 3,051.3 square kilometers and an estimated population of 2,079,669 and density of 682. Administratively, it is divided into twelve sub counties, sixty wards, one hundred and eighty seven Village Units and four hundred Community Administrative Areas. Politically, it comprises of twelve constituencies and sixty wards. The climate in this region is very conducive for many activities including crop and animal production. Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must:

• Have served in the grade of Principal Communication Officer or Principal Information Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Have a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized University/Institution;
• Have a Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, Information Science, International Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
• Possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;
• Possess advanced computer application skills;
• Be a person of integrity, motivated and a team player; and
• Have demonstrated professional competence in information service
