The promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, introduced the devolved system of Government which resulted to the formation of the 47 Counties across the Country, Kakamega County being among them. Kakamega County is located in the western region of the country with an area of 3,051.3 square kilometers and an estimated population of 2,079,669 and density of 682. Administratively, it is divided into twelve sub counties, sixty wards, one hundred and eighty seven Village Units and four hundred Community Administrative Areas. Politically, it comprises of twelve constituencies and sixty wards. The climate in this region is very conducive for many activities including crop and animal production. County Vision A wealthy and vibrant county offering high quality services to its residents County Mission To improve the welfare of the people of Kakamega county through formulation and implementation of all-inclusive multi-sectoral policies.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

  • Served in the grade of Pricipal Human Resource Management Officerf Job Group CPSB 06 (‘N’) for a minimum period of two (2) years with a cummulative period of fifteen (15) years in the Public Service;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Education, Sociology, Law, Political Science/ Government, Anthropology or any other relevant Social Science from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Human resource planning, Human resource Management, Human Resource Development, Business Administration, Public Administration or its equivalent from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • Have Certificate of Senior Management Course lasting not less than four weeks (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Current Membership to the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) Kenya in good standing or an equivalent professional body;
  • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
  • Certified Secretary (CS – K) and in good standing will be an added advantage;
  • Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence, administrative capabilities and initiative in the general organization and management of Human Resource and a thorough understanding of HR issues and emerging HRM practices & techniques;
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of national goals, principles and development goals
  • Have a clear understanding of the County’s mandate;
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the National Values and Principles of Governance and Public Service; and
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 on Leadership and Integrity
