Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Digital Solutions on the Global Technical Team, the Senior Manager,**Health Centre By Phone (HCBP)**will advance VillageReach’s ambitious target of reaching 100M people with improved access to products and primary health care services by setting the long-term vision and strategic direction of the Health Center By Phone (HCBP) solution, applying knowledge of the global telehealth landscape to identify new opportunities and position the HCBP solution appropriately, and ensuring that the solution is adaptable to solving identified health problems across diverse geographies. The Senior Manager, Health Center by Phone (HCBP) will lead partnership mobilization efforts for telehealth implementations with a focus on bringing together a diverse coalition of governments, technical partners, and donors to accelerate the adoption of sustainable, integrated telehealth platforms supporting primary health care delivery for the most under-reached. The ideal candidate will bring a creative approach to relationship development, a robust understanding of the digital health landscape, and experience developing institutional partnerships to accomplish bold goals. This position can be located in Malawi, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, or the United States.

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.

Set Strategic Direction of HCBP (30%)

  • Review and refine HCBP solution strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, functional requirements and funding streams. This will involve assessing new solution extension ideas and strategize appropriate to-market plans.
  • Identify opportunities to create value for the VillageReach HCBP solution by modeling effective communication, innovation and advancing strategic thinking and planning related to telehealth development and implementation efforts.
  • Apply robust understanding of the global and Sub Saharan Africa’s telehealth landscape to identify opportunities for solution differentiation.
  • Create solution strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, functional requirements and funding streams
  • Analyze market data to develop solution replication strategies, and define solution objectives for effective demand generation communications plans

HCBP Solution Design, Development and Implementation Management (40%)

  • Understand target countries’ health priorities and guide how best to align HCBP service offerings to address these needs
  • Lead the execution of solution lifecycle processes including market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development, and solution implementation
  • Translate government health needs into functional requirements for solution design and development by engineering teams. including coordinating the efforts of relevant departments involved in successfully bringing the solution to market
  • Develop, implement, and maintain solution replication timelines across multiple teams

HCBP Partnerships and Business Development (30%)

  • Lead strategic partnership mobilization efforts for telehealth implementations targeting governments, technical partners and donors
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team in growing cross sectoral partnerships in the telehealth space as well as identifying learning opportunities. This will include developing and managing long-term relationships with diverse external organizations in the telehealth space. Represent VillageReach’s work to the broader field at workshops, conferences, advisory panels, and other networking opportunities.
  • Head efforts to research targeted healthcare organizations, determine funding potential, and build relationships leading to revenue-producing project collaborations.
  • Identify and engage potential partners and secure buy-in, collaborations and additional resources to the telehealth initiative.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will supervise the HCBP Technical Lead within the Global Technical Team (GTT)

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Master’s degree in health informatics, public health, business, public policy, or social sciences preferred but not required.
  • 10+ years of partnership development and resource mobilization for a mission-driven organization.
  • Established relationships with decision makers at granting organizations and collaborative networks.
  • Proven ability to successfully collaborate strategically with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated professional verbal and written communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate organizational value-add in a clear and inspiring manner and inter-/cross-cultural communication.
  • Ability to plan work in multicultural teams in a way that achieves project objectives, supports the professional development of team members, and contributes to a collegial working environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and analytic skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, prioritize and accurately complete multiple tasks, and to work under deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Experience working in digital health, the technology sector or providing online services to consumers is a distinct advantage.

Other Qualifications:

  • Comply with VillageReach’s COVID-19 vaccination policy.
  • Knowledge of verbal and written French and/or Portuguese is an added advantage.
  • Strong communication and cross-cultural management skills including experience with political officials.

  • Comfortable with productivity and presentation tools and with learning new business operations tools quickly in a fast-paced technical environment.

  • Demonstrated understanding of challenges with working in rural, underserved and low-income context; experience living in and/or working in a low-income country a plus.
  • Knowledge of last mile health infrastructure challenges (e.g. of rural communities in an African context).
  • Ability to collect and analyze data quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to travel internationally, up to 30% of the time.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

VillageReach has no private offices, employees work in a shared, open environment with task and conference rooms accessible to employees for privacy and meetings. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Due to the time zone differences between our Seattle office and our Country Offices and location of other global staff, US based staff are expected to be available for early morning meetings starting at 6am. In addition, our global HQ and Country office staff are expected to be available for late afternoon/evening meetings up to 6pm local time.
