ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Finance Manager for a current Livestock Market Systems Leader with Associate Awards Activity in Kenya funded by USAID. The Finance Manager will provide leadership and direction to the finance team with close oversight of the project’s finances, including financial analysis and accounting management. • The Communications Specialist will take a dynamic approach to developing and executing the USAID Kuza communications strategy. They will build relationships across the USAID Kuza project portfolio with staff, partners and Impact for Northern Kenya Fund clients and take a proactive approach to identifying stories and messaging that communicates USAID Kuza learning and results to various stakeholders. They will lead both internal and external communications efforts, as well as contribute to content-development of project materials, including weekly, quarterly and annual reports, success stories, LinkedIn postings, Tweets, presentations, photography, videography, events management, and media relations.
• They will liaise between project partners, beneficiaries, key project staff, and local service providers to build a strong bridge for the exchange of information and incorporate the project’s learning, results and findings into the overall communications and outreach activities of the project.
• The position reports to the Deputy Chief of Party.

Responsibilities

• Develop USAID Kuza learning communications and marketing materials for use by USAID, County Government partners, USAID Kuza, ACDI/VOCA, the Impact for Northern Kenya Fund and its clients. This will include weekly newsletters, quarterly reports, annual reports, blog posts, success stories, case studies, social media postings, fact sheets, event materials, marketing presentations, photos, and videos.
• Support the development of the Activity’s annual work plan.
• Attend monthly USAID communications meeting and actively execute on action items that come out of these meetings and, others, as deemed appropriate under management of the coordination programs.
• Proactively work with staff across USAID Kuza identify learnings and achievements; coordinate with staff to gather information for communications including graphics, articles, success, and impact stories that offer analytical storytelling.
• Craft messages to disseminate learning and results to various stakeholders using multiple platforms.
• Develop project reporting deliverables such as quarterly and annual reports to ensure we are communicating USAID Kuza progress.
• Build the capacity of USAID Kuza team to develop communications materials.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of relevant consultants in the communications sector.
• Manage USAID Kuza’s photo library and conduct photo editing as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Education: bachelor’s degree in communication or its equivalent
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in communication, working with development partners.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Experience drafting and executing a comprehensive communication plan in support of a project strategy, incorporating a variety of media and tactics.

Chief of Party, Resilience Learning Activity (RLA), Kenya

ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Chief of Party for the Resilience Learning Activity (RLA) based in Nairobi, Kenya, funded by USAID. The RLA program is designed to identify, extrapolate, and amplify successful resilience approaches by using evidence-based research to support all USAID Implementing Partners (IPs) working on resilience initiatives.

This approach is defined by acting as a secretariat for the following three USAID IP coordination programs:

1. Partnership for Resilience and Economic Growth (PREG)
2. Southeastern Kenya (SEK)
3. Somalia Resilience Partnership (SRP)
4. Horn of Africa Resilience Network (HoRN)

RLA’s role as the secretariat of these coordination platforms requires ongoing communication, coordination and identification of best practices and lessons learned between USAID, USAID IPs, regional entities (IGAD) and/or national, and county level governments. This work also focuses on a localization approach, working with local registered entities in each of the 9-counties that the coordination programs cover. This works aligns with the following 4 objectives of the RLA program:

1. Data Analytics
2. Learning for Adaptive Management
3. Improving Knowledge Management; and
4. Apply collaboration, learning and adapting (CLA) principles.

Each of these objectives is driven by demand for the coordination platform members, the RLA work plan and through the co-creation approach (i.e. joint work plan), where the RLA staff and our local partners country government and other USAID IPs.

The Chief of Party will provide strategic leadership and oversee all fiduciary risks (with support from ACDI/VOCA Kenya and HQ team). S/he will serve as the program’s key liaison with USAID, ACDI/VOCA headquarters, government counterparts, private sector stakeholders, subcontractors, academic institutions, and all other entities working through these platforms.

RLA is a regionally active activity, implemented in Kenya, East Africa, and Somalia missions. The Chief of Party will oversee implementation in all three of the activity’s geographic areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic leadership and programmatic direction for the activity.
• Oversee all administrative and financial aspects of the activity.
• Supervise annual results reports, resource requests, quarterly reports, and pipeline analyses.
• Establish work plans and annual performance goals for team members, ensuring timely and quality execution of group deliverables.
• Analyze budgets, review and approve financial reports (with correct funding stream), and ensure all required regular and ad hoc reports are completed accurately and on time.

• Foster strong relationships with the following USAID divisions: Kenya, East Africa, Somalia, USAID bureau for humanitarian assistance and the Center for Resilience.
• Foster relationships with other ACDI/VOCA operating units and programs (which are under PREG), and partner implementing organizations, in addition to host and local government institutions, nongovernmental organizations, and other non-USAID donors.
• Undertake area assessments to identify needs and future direction. Develop existing and new program opportunities.
• Foster a work environment that is non-discriminatory and promotes open dialogue on gender-related issues.
• Travel to site offices as needed to provide technical assistance and troubleshoot.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise and experience as a Chief-of-Party in managing (at least $5 million), complex development activities, with demonstrated experience working within an African context and focused on learning and adaptive management.
• Demonstrated ability to be collaborative across activities and partners, preferably with a good understanding of best practice private sector-led market system implementation, analysis and knowledge management, and communications.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to local solutions and local organization capacity building.

Responsibilities

• Establish and manage systems to ensure cohesion across all technical sectors of the activity
• Oversee day-to-day planning, design, and operations of project and technical teams to ensure effective project implementation

The GYSI Director will lead the development and implementation of the program’s overall strategy for GYSI and will ensure the integration of women, youth, and other vulnerable populations into all program activities. The program is anticipated to start in 2023 and this position is envisioned to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the GYSI strategy which will guide the integration of GYSI concepts and approaches into all program activities, including technical implementation, monitoring, operations, policies, and procedures
• Collaborate with the Chief of Party, technical teams, MEL, and other personnel on GYSI strategy implementation and monitoring
• Lead or assist in the design and implementation of GYSI analyses, impact assessments, and other learning studies
• Provide technical advice and trainings to program staff, partners, and stakeholders to build their capacity to integrate gender, youth, and other relevant social considerations into designing interventions, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressive work experience in international development, preferably in an agricultural or food systems context, including 5 years of experience in GYSI programming.
• Knowledge of and experience with USAID and/or other international donor programs’ rules and regulations related to GYSI is required.
