Awareness Against Human Trafficking (HAART), is a non-governmental organization based in Nairobi and dedicated to fighting human trafficking in Eastern Africa. HAART works through a multi-disciplinary approach applying the UN Four P’s Strategy to combat trafficking in persons: Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, Policy and Partnership. HAART is one of the key counter-trafficking organizations in Kenya addressing the issue of human trafficking by supporting the people most affected by it and also developing best practices in the movement.

HAART Kenya is currently recruiting for the position of a Fundraising Officer. The Officer shall coordinate all respective operations and manage the fundraising strategy within our organization that generates funds to drive our mission and ensures HAART’s long long-term organizational sustainability. The professional is supposed to coordinate, together with the director and program management of the organization, the whole process from identifying donor resources to proposal writing and raising funds through cultivating donor relationships based on the organizational values. The Officer will work closely with our internal departments, as well as external clients, donors, and various members of the community.

He / she will be reporting to the Partnership and Development Manager.

KeyResponsibilities and Duties:

• Continuous monitoring of the external environment undertaking independent research in identifying (alternative) resources that ensure long-term sustainability of the organization.
• Coordination, preparation, monitoring and timely compilation of grant proposals together with the Program implementation teams and the CEO
• Develop and manage a fundraising budget along with budget monitoring.
• Develop and maintain a donor database, including initial donor profiling and in-depth analysis.
• Development and maintenance of a fundraising calendar to cultivate and maintain sustainable relationships based on HAART Values
• Collaborate with the Communication Officers and develop donor specific communication tactics
• Design and implement fundraising campaigns based on HAART’s values (online as well as in person; in Kenya as well as international).
• Coordinate respective fundraising teams for campaigns and events.
• Close collaboration with Project Leads, HAART Poland, internal Communication Officer and Finance to support holistic donor engagement from Capacity development for HAART staff in proposal development to Engagement and coordination of fundraising champions (local and abroad).
• Reviewing policies and suggestions for enhancement, where necessary.

Essential criteria & qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in PR, Fundraising, or any related field (preferably a master's degree).
• A proven track record of a minimum of three years successful fundraising in the development sector or similar environment or previous experience in sales or marketing is also acceptable.
• Knowledge of the fundraising environment (and NGO sector), understanding of different processes and techniques.
• Experience in monitoring and implementing fundraising strategies and budgets.
• Experience in developing, writing and submitting grant applications for projects/organizations.
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills – innovative/creative thinker.
• Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills, proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to plan, balance and cope with competing priorities.
• Highly self-motivated and able to drive initiatives as well as collaborating with teams

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Protection

• Coordinate the Legal component of the Protection of victims and survivors.
• Prepare the victims for court session(s) in collaboration with the psychologists and the Protection team.
• Support Survivors in their participation in the criminal justice process (including pre and post-trial stage).
• Manage pro bono advocate databases and coordinate their services for Victims of Trafficking receiving support from HAART.
• Coordinate civil suit for survivors of human trafficking seeking compensation/restitution from traffickers.
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
• Facilitate in acquiring legal documents for survivors, e.g., repatriation orders, travel documents,etc.

Advocacy

• Aid research department in conducting research on legal issues related to human trafficking.
• Train first responders and other key groups on the counter trafficking legal framework.
• Coordinate the training of HAART staff on the counter trafficking legal frameworks.
• Coordinate the collaboration with all government institutions on counter trafficking policies.
• Coordinate Legal and human rights awareness and education to HAART beneficiaries with integration of the knowledge into community outreach activities.
• Represent HAART in Collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure that the criminal justice framework protects the survivors that we serve.
• Support civil remedies available to victims of human trafficking and the nature of suits which can be instituted.

Program Management

• Participate in Protection work and report writing.
• Participate in various team meetings.
• Support HAART in legal matters and collaborate and support the fundraising officer in proposal writing as well as participating in reporting to various donors.
• Develop a registry system and continuously update it

Essential criteria & qualification

• Education: Diploma in law, legal or and paralegal studies.
• Job experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in working in the human rights field.
• Ability to work with vulnerable populations.
• Strong attention to details and expertise in organization.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and native Kiswahili skills are required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a team builder

We are currently looking for a qualified and experienced person (a resident in Kenya) to fill the position of a HR, Administration and Finance Manager. Reporting to the CEO and being a member of a Senior Management Team (SMT), the successful candidate will be responsible for all Human Resource and Administrative functions within the organization. The position holder will also lead the Finance department. S(he) will provide leadership to a team of professionals, support staff and ensure the highest level of performance.

The HR Administration and Finance Manager will be reporting to the CEO.

KeyResponsibilitiesand Duties:

Human Resource

• People Manager of the organization. Develop, review and implement all HR management tools through the employee lifecycle from recruitment to offboarding.
• Drive employee engagement initiatives including regular surveys.
• Plan and coordinate recruitment processes.
• Ensure proper onboarding of all staff in the organization.
• Develop training schedules and ensure capacity building across the organization. opportunities for internal external capacity building. appraisals
• Manage HAART staff leave records and ensure that leave requests are submitted and filed.
• Ensure proper management of payroll and administration of staff benefits and allowances.
• Ensure all staff statutory deductions are submitted promptly.
• Manage, with the SMT support disciplinary and grievances handling process.
• Administer the performance system for HAART.
• Ensure proper records management including management of staff files.
• Manage all related HR communications especially the HR email account.
• Review and enhance internal HR manuals and policies.
• Ensure safety and security requirements as per Kenyan law and HAART policies are implemented.
• Ensure compliance to the Kenyan Labor Law.

Administration:

• Supervise proper management of organizational assets and office maintenance.
• In charge of / supervise all administrative aspects of the organization.
• Ensure travel management is being processed in alignment with procurement.
• Supervise proper stock keeping management.

Financial reporting and budgeting

• Oversight of the overall process of financial transactions
• Coordinate, monitor and review regular internal organizational budget development and expenditures as well as external donor budgets In line with policies and guidelines.
• Ensure timely provision of accurate monthly financial reports, both internally for the management as well as externally for the donors requirements.
• Supervise the financial team in making payments, bank reconciliation process and petty cash management.
• Implement the recommendations from internal and external auditors.
• Ensure strict adherence to HAART procurement guidelines.

Being member of SMT

• Supervise and lead the Finance Team
• Participate in SMT’s meetings, deliberations and decision making
• Represent the organization on different forums

Essential criteria & qualification:

• University degree in HR, or related field.
• Be a member of IHRM/ pursuing CHRP-K
• At least 5 years’ experience with similar responsibilities.
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili (both oral and written).
• Strong computer skills and experience working with accounting software.
• Experience liaising with a range of stakeholders regarding financial and administrative issues.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and to take initiative.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Honest, meticulous, responsible and well organized.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to financial accountability and transparency.
• Finance knowledge (for example CPA (2) or equivalent) is an added advantage.
• Experience working with a non-governmental sector will be an advantage.
