Role purpose

• Lead the planning and coordination of commercial seed production activities which includes grower contracting, planting, detasseling and harvesting. 
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to execute and deliver the Crop Plan in full on time.
• Planning and monitoring Field Operations budget including mobile equipment and materials.

Key responsibilities and tasks

• Lead building and maintaining a reliable and sustainable grower base, to ensure reliable supply of commercial seed to the commercial team within Zambia.
• Lead analytics for field processes, to ensure the correct decisions for planning and liaise closely with Field and Plant Management teams.
• Lead the planning and coordination of production activities, Grower contracting, Planting, Detasseling and Harvesting and distribution across the geographies.
• Lead the coordination with seed growers to ensure a smooth transition and flow of product from field to plant.
• Lead HSE efforts according ISO45001 standards focusing on legal compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRA methodology. 
• Lead the development, update and compliance with quality assurance standards and management system set by ISO9001:2015
• Create, manage and continual tracking and compliance of the Operational budgets. 
• Identify and deploy operational improvement, tracking and best practices and processes to continually seek improvements in reliability and cost efficiencies.
• Promote and coordinate the Velocity data management tool, to effectively analyze and utilize field data to manage productions effectively. This extends to new technology deployment.
• Manage Velocity and SAP data, to ensure correctness for contracting and field processes.
• Utilize onePSS as a platform to implement best practices, for example, Visual Management to track Operations KPI`s by leading Tier 2 field meeting and participate in the Tier 3 Site Lead meetings.
• Actively laisse with Government and Seed certification bodies in industry decision making
• Increase end-to-end operational efficiency and advance customer experience through continuous improvement initiatives
• Promote and implement best practices with focus on Quality and Reliability to improve them every year.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications 

• Minimum a diploma or bachelor’s degree in agronomy or 10 years’ experience in seed production.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahil
• MS Office software (Excel, E-mail, Word, Project etc.)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Role purpose

• Reporting directly to the local Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the jobholder is accountable for all Treasury matters within the country group. The main objectives are to assure liquidity for the business in the region, optimize legal & tax structures on local and regional level and ensure the optimal usage of financial resources; all in accordance with global guidance and local laws. Treasury ensures the optimal allocation, sourcing and management of financial resources.
• The jobholder oversees the cash management and banking structures for Bayer in the country group. This includes improving the forex access across South East Africa, establishing banking policies, and managing relationships with commercial and central banks. The role also oversees the insurance portfolio of Bayer in the country group and comprises both global and local aspects of financial risk management. It includes regular financial reporting and planning as well as the management of dividend planning and inter-company loans.

Key responsibilities and tasks

• Lead all Treasury activities and ensure stable legal entity financing across South East Africa
• Consolidate the South East Africa Treasury organization, define the scope of responsibilities, and coordinate the operations for each Country
• Establish adequate monitoring and steering mechanisms for country-level treasury including treasury risk management. Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting.
• Develop and implement strategic planning for Treasury across South East Africa.
• Responsible for all insurance-related matters across South East Africa
• Derive and implement strategic measures to improve forex access across South East Africa
• Engage with business leaders across Divisions to support development of business strategies with Treasury considerations. Provide business partnering across the region
• Support potential assessments for business model changes, investments and company projects as necessary for the appropriate company decision making
• Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for senior company leadership.

• Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally. Closely collaborate with Global Treasury team
• Closely interact with commercial banks, central banks and other external stakeholders to support our business interests. Execute all bank agreements and maintain proper documentation.
• Manage, develop, and mentor the staff members to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement on projects and assess performance through formal periodic reviews and informal feedback.
• Implementation of process improvements by including new technology, documentation, controls and methodology for all markets and processes in scope
• Coordinate and optimize finance structures and the use of financial resources, all in accordance with global guidance.
• Coordinate along with Taxes the yearly dividends planning
• Manage the payment process including foreign exchange payments ensuring necessary approval is obtained from the relevant Reserve Banks
• Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the Treasury processes.
• Provide support with various internal / external audits as they arise in the region.
• Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

• University degree ideally in business, economics, finance or engineering
• Several years of professional experience in Treasury or similar fields, ideally across Sub-Sahara-Africa
• Proven leadership and team management experience at least 3 years. Knowledge of accounting, tax and finance processes in a legal entity.
• Knowledge of Bayer Group structure, the Business Groups and Service Divisions
• Profound knowledge and feeling for the Business of the respective Legal Entities
• Sufficient legal knowledge and advanced ERP / BI knowledge

Role purpose

• Define sub-regional strategic and operational GTM plans to enable countries to deliver tailored solutions on country level.
• Enable countries to activate their go-to-market strategies and ensure a successful introduction of biotech technology in EAF
• Propose a GTM strategy for given cluster of countries to the GTM strategy lead, meeting customer needs.
• Accountable for developing and implementing relevant crop Go-To-Market (GtM) strategies and campaigns for key farmer and channel segments with the view to achieve sustainable profitability and market share consistent with the KPI’s, by satisfying current and future customer needs through tailored solutions in East Africa (EA)
• Enable East Africa (EA) to execute effectively on their go-to-market strategies.

Key responsibilities and tasks

• Define what products/ solutions are needed to achieve crop strategies, and coordinated with Segment/ Project management to ensure availability of such products/ solutions
• Created value proposition of products and solutions based on input from (customer) Marketing teams on country level and ensure that there are clear bridges to the Campaign Activation Team
• Coordinate the portfolio review annually conjointly with the CP Champion Lead for Africa, coordinating rituals locally in EAF with clear local portfolio analysis (Strategic Guidance ABCD Model)
• Design and follow-up on actionable territory plans to enable consistent and effective execution across countries
• Analyze the sub-regional crop market, macro-trends and competitor strategies to identify new business opportunities based upon unmet needs of current and new customers, including partners in the food value chain.
• Lead, prepare and manage sub-regional GTM meetings, contribute to the definition of regional Must Win Battles (MWBs) and Objective Key Results (OKR´s)
• Coordinate and manage the strategy integration and tactical activation in EAF across MD, GTM, Campaign Activation and Commercial Steward and implement the GTM planning calendar for EAF
• Develop & implement short, mid and long term integrated Go to Market (GtM) strategies and campaigns for relevant crops, adapting GTM strategies to EA key customer segment needs and requirements.
• Ensure that GtM strategies are effectively executed through tactical marketing plans based on customer segmentation
• Collaborate with business intelligence and customer insight team to generate necessary customer insight to develop customer centric GtM strategies and aligned campaigns
• Ensure efficient implementation of key Stewardship measures as part of the tailored crop solution and GtM strategy

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture or Business Administration.
• Minimum 5 to10 year’ experience in marketing and/ or sales.
• Solid knowledge of agricultural systems and farm agronomy with relevance for the region.
• Ability to develop and apply meaningful customer segments based on deep understanding of customers insights.
• Ability to utilize complex data points in order o understand market trends and anticipate future requirements.
• Ability to develop, differentiating strategies based on compelling and novel solutions for customer needs

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Process export permits and documents for CP, Row Crop finished seeds and Row seed and communicate with broker on customs processing, clearance and onward forwarding of consignments to customers & desired DCs.
• Co-ordinate shipment of road, air/ocean freight consignments complying with export regulations and international trade laws.
• Support order fulfillment and transportation cycle in arranging for PVOC where required, ensure timely loading, maintain scheduled departures and track goods from loading point through to delivery to the desired DCs.
• Liaise with Order Management on execution of direct export orders and ensure smooth shipment of products from supplying plants to destination countries. Organise dispatch of original documents to customers.
• Support Customer Interaction in ensuring customers are promptly updated on status of their orders and advice Supply Planning on any foreseen delays.
• To ensure export permits & COOs are promptly processed.
• Keep abreast with export regulations and developments and report on any new changes.
• Process Payments for government agencies, 3rd party service providers and customs Broker and liaise with Finance dept to ensure payments are done within stipulated timelines.
• Ensure exports are done as per the Exports Standard Operating Procedures and maintain accurate Documents (electronic and Hard copy), Goods Inspection, collection and customers receipts to support ISO, internal and other external audits.
• Update respective internal databases in SAP for exports goods receipt and Logistics GRVs processing, T&C for HS Code authenticity and PCPB for export permits.
• Co-ordinate and monitor export documentation to verify legal compliance to trade laws & ensure LC instructions are fully complied with to avoid penalties and shipment delays.
• Liaise with freight forwarders for freight forwarding quotations ensuring total transparency in selection of the most efficient and cost effective transporter/service provider.
• Produce bi-weekly updates on export orders, provide feedback on product non-availability and highlight areas likely to affect the monthly export budget.
• Support implementation of Supply Chain projects within the Africa supply chain.
• Coordinate returns and buy-backs for CP and RC from DCs to supplying plants.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the line Manager.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

• Degree in Supply chain management or a business degree.
• 5 years’ experience in Supply chain, Imports and Exports or Logistics Management.
• Good Knowledge of Kentrade Platform is mandatory
• Well versed with Letters of Credit
• Good command of English language and ability to communicate effectively.
• Proactive and ability to prioritize work
• Good knowledge of International Trade, Local Import/Export regulations and Customs Compliance.
• Mandatory Computer Literacy
• Good knowledge of SAP & Customs systems will be an advantage
• Handling of Seed and Agri-input chemicals is an advantage
• Ability to work independently.
