Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and facilitate the selection process of scholarship beneficiaries, including application reviews and interviews within Dadaab and/or Kakuma refugee camps.
2. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, such as schools, parents, and community leaders, to ensure smooth program implementation.
3. Support beneficiaries in the enrolment process, including school admission and facilitation and access to required educational materials during academic terms.
4. Ensure effective planning, coordination, and execution of program-related events and activities.
5. Document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned from the program implementation.
6. Manage the financial aspects of the scholarship program, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting.
7. Monitor program expenses and ensure adherence to approved budgets and financial guidelines.
8. Prepare accurate financial reports, including expense reports, budget variance analysis, and financial projections.
9. Collaborate with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records, receipts, and supporting documentation within the Data Management and Information System (DMIS).
10. Work closely with program stakeholders to ensure financial transparency and compliance with donor requirements.
11. Provide financial guidance and support to scholarship beneficiaries and their families as needed through provision of the scholarship package.
12. Assist in the development and improvement of financial management systems and processes.
13. Collaborate with program coordinators and other team members to ensure effective implementation of the scholarship program within the region.

 Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management and reporting, preferably in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
• Strong knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and procedures.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, or similar applications.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working in a multicultural and refugee context is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of donor requirements and grant management is a plus.
• Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of the local language(s) is an advantage.

This is an assistant management role within the Equity Group Foundation with the candidate working with the General Manager Food and Agriculture but under the supervision of the General Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning [MERL]. The candidate will be responsible for the implementation of the MERL strategy and delivering high standards of monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting requirements and program results across the portfolio. He/she will ensure full compliance with donor requirements, assist the program team in design of new programs, development of result frameworks and plans and facilitating capacity building initiatives for both internal staff and external stakeholders when required. He/She will be responsible for weekly reports to the regional teams.

Main Responsibilities

Monitoring and Reporting:

• Monitor and facilitate program progress measurement, reporting and tracking compliance with donor requirements and internal program quality systems.
• Weekly reporting on various data indicators for the different regions as defined by Food and Agriculture Pillar
• Conduct simple and complex data analysis processes and reporting for all relevant purposes for the preparation of quarterly reports, annual reports for partners and board reports.
• Take lead in drafting, consolidation, and submission of program reports to program partners, Equity Group Board and the contribute to the preparation of the annual impact report.
• Contribute towards improvement in result-based reporting and quality of reports to donors/partners and internal reporting structures.
• Prepare technical briefs and special papers on key thematic areas of focus and strategic program achievements
• Facilitate the implementation of the MERL plan, regularly revising and updating performance questions, indicators, methods, and formats.
• Coordinate and participate in regular field monitoring and validation visits and submit field visit reports.
• Periodically review and advise on the development of tailor-made MERL tools.
• Take charge of data quality management for the programme and ensure integration of data quality standards in reporting of programme achievements.
• Undertake periodic data quality checks
• Supervise the management of the EGF Data Management and Information System to facilitate effective access to data/information and efficient managerial decision making.
• Supervise and assist with the development of an all-inclusive Food and Agriculture Digital platform with training content, e commerce, weather information, etc

Design and Planning:

• Develop and facilitate the review of the programme Theory of Change, MERL frameworks and tools including the specific program MERL plans, log frames, performance monitoring plans and indicator reference sheets.
• Provide technical input in the development of compelling grant proposals and concepts with strong and well-articulated MERL sections.
• With support from the General Manager and other MERL Managers, develop and test systems and processes to respond to the demands of adaptive programming.
• Support the integration of successful approaches in routine MERL practices.
• Organize and facilitate training on the application of result-based monitoring and evaluation in program design, management, and reporting.
• Prepare MERL activity concepts, annual works plans and budgets.
• Develop and implement cost-effective and real time data collection systems and tools including but not limited to the use of mobile devices and digital survey tools.
• Serve as a key liaison person with EGF program team, finance, operations, procurement, and management teams in MERL related matters.
• Developed a close working relationship with external partners including donors, Government, private sector and Non-Governmental organizations in MERL practice and collaborations.
• Proactively work with the MERL team and key stakeholders to resolve and/or disseminate key risks, issues and best practices identified through the programme monitoring work.

Evaluation and Learning:

• With the assistance of General Manager, take lead in conducting internal evaluations, assessments, tracer studies and other relevant special studies on periodic basis.
• Facilitate quarterly program reviews against the set KPIs and draft program review reports to EGF management and partners.
• Developing terms of reference(s), scope of works, selection, and supervision of external service providers/consultants.
• With the assistance of General Manager, coordinate external program evaluations and assessments and ensure learning is understood and disseminated to all the relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate the Identification and documentation of result-oriented case studies, success stories and other qualitative progress reporting methods periodically.
• Represent the MERL department and the foundation whenever called upon in external meeting and forums with stakeholders.
• Regularly review and improve the MERL system by seeking stakeholder inputs and through consultations with MERL practitioners in other organizations.
• Lead the program team in periodic program reviews
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• In collaboration with the other MERL staff, plan and conduct internal program quality assessments including periodic data quality assessments.

 Qualifications 

Desired Academic Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in either monitoring and evaluation, social statistics, project planning and management, development studies or related course. Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
• Relevant professional certifications and training in monitoring and evaluation and project cycle management.
• Practical knowledge of using data analysis softwares such as; Advanced Excel, SPSS, Python, STATA and NVivo.
• Experience in managing or developing digital platforms or relational databases

Desired skills

• Demonstrate understanding of monitoring and evaluation for donor funded programmes and especially in the Food and Agriculture sector.

Job purpose

The Manager will be responsible for managing the project and programs under the Energy, Environment and Climate Change (EE&CC) pillar as well as a team of senior officers and officer within the pillar.

Duties and responsibilities

• Ensure smooth running of the EE&CC Pillar
• Lead, guide and motivate EE&CC team in executing the pillar’s mission and objectives in line with Equity’s mission.
• Develop the pillar’s strategies & projections and communicate the same to the team for execution.
• Planning, assigning and supervising pillar projects per sector at the same time design jobs and specify tasks.
• Will be the lead partner relationship manager and will use the opportunity to identify areas Equity can leverage to attain its social, environmental and commercial goals.
• Establishment and maintaining a close working relationship among the pillar team, other departments of EGF and the Bank to ensure smooth running of the EE&CC Pillar Programs.
• Assisting the pillar head in aligning and managing the Pillar’s projects per sector and aligning them to the Bank’s objective of driving business through eco-system banking.
• Working closely the M&E team develop relevant project tracking tools for accurate and timely progress reports
• Coordinating & supporting execution of projects undertaken between EGF, the Bank and energy partners.
• Promoting and cross selling the Banks’ products to energy partners. Support and/ or facilitate market, information/ knowledge and financial linkages and support build-up of business networks for the energy & environment eco-systems.

Job purpose

The senior officer will be responsible for coordinating all projects and programs falling under climate smart agriculture and water.

Duties and responsibilities

• Create awareness and advice institutions on the available renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water solutions from Equity to the clients.
• Focus on transitioning learning institutions and hospitals into clean energy for cooking and lighting, but also promote other solutions such as water harvesting & storage, solar water heating and waste management
• Be the focal point and the link person between the technology providers, institutions and the bank and working closely with the relevant units with the bank to ensure that the institutions are supported to access loans for conversion
• Coordinate site visits to institutions, participate in pitching of the clean energy solutions.
• Working closely with the Manager and the Pillar Head, maintain excellent relationship with the technology partners and the institutions
• Ensure that the technology partners are consuming bank products such loans, deposits, payments and insurance and always seeking support from the bank to cross sell the bank’s products and services within the partners ecosystems
• Conducting market intelligence on emerging trends institutional clean energy and advice the pillar accordingly on market opportunities
• Provide the link between the Pillar and the commercial engine and coordinate execution of projects through the bank as well as maintain an excellent working relationship between EGF, the Bank and the partners.
• Linking institutional partners to specific departments to facilitate customer satisfaction in service delivery
• Coordinating and carrying out training and capacity building activities internally for staff and externally for partners and customers on institutional clean energy

Job purpose

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for coordinating and co-managing all projects that are undertaken under Energy, Environment and Climate Change Pillar.

Duties and responsibilities

• Work closely with the manager to ensure smooth running of the Pillar and all its projects
• Co-planning, assigning and supervising pillar projects per sector and ensuring the projects are executed in a timely manner and within the set resources.
• Own and drive the institutional clean cooking project focusing on learning and health institutions
• Training of branches on clean energy transitions
• Establishment and maintaining a close working relationship among the pillar, other departments of EGF and the Bank to ensure smooth running of the EE & CC Pillar Programs
• Supporting the Pillar’s projects and aligning them to the Bank’s objective of driving business through eco-system banking.
• Supporting daily administrative and management of Pillar projects including assigning and supervising work schedules for the officer and senior officers.
• Requesting data from relevant sources, receiving, analysing, consolidating and maintaining the pillar’s data and reports. 
• Promoting/ cross selling the Banks’ products to pillar partners and linking them to specific departments and individuals for seamless customer service. 
• Ensuring that planned capacity building activities for staff and customers are effectively carried out.

Working conditions

The position entails coverage of an extensive knowledge in climate related projects and might require more time to be spent in the office providing administrative services.

Reporting Line

The Assistant Manager will report directly to the Associate Director but closely with the Manager. The Asst. Manager will be assigned several senior officers and will support the manager in managing the senior officers, officers, interns and any other personnel reporting to the manager.

Expected outputs

 Deliver assigned targets output in terms of expected output - numbers of projects completed, capacity of energy projects undertaken, economic, social and environmental impact and performance of the pillar. Periodic reports (Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly) on program specific activities as detailed out in the Key Performance Indicators KPI’s contract.

Description

EGF Enterprise Development & Financial Inclusion Pillar is Implementing the Young Africa Works Program supported by MCF and Equity Group. The program needs to meet its targets in training and mentorship of MSMEs in financial literacy. To achieve this, additional 50 Financial Literacy Trainers who will be conducting training, coaching and mentorship of MSMEs under the program are required.

Reporting to the Regional Enterprise Development Coordinator, Financial Education and Inclusion trainer will be responsible for building the capacity of micro, medium and small entrepreneurs and famers customers in the bank through delivering Financial Education Training and linking them to financial access in assigned region.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Mobilization of the micro, medium and small entrepreneurs nd famers in the bank
• Enrolling the MSMEs/farmers into the programs in accordance with the program set target and timelines
• Deliver financial Education training to MSMEs in the bank.
• Offering mentorship and coaching to the MSMEs to program beneficiaries.
• Linking MSMEs to Equity Group financial services and based on their financial needs.
• Respond to beneficiaries queries regarding financial education to enhance their knowledge and skills.
• Documentation and dissemination of success stories & lessons learnt in the programs.
• Prepare reports to Branch Manager, regional coordinator, and the program management as required.
• Organize, coordinate and execute program activities as per the programs work plan and targets.

• Mean Grade of C+ in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
• Minimum Degree preferably in Business Administration or management, cooperative management, micro finance and commerce. Another degree but with diploma in microfinance, cooperative management, community management or experience in Group lending methodology, cooperative management, any community training  is also acceptable.
• Experience in training, Group lending, micro individual lending, Agriculture lending, Agribusiness, Agency and merchants banking and marketing.

• Delivery of entrepreneurship  education training to MSMEs in Young Africa Works Program
• Conduct demand driven coaching and mentoring of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises in Young Africa Works Program.
• Ensure all the MSMEs trained in Young Africa Works Program access financial services from Equity Group.
• Facilitation of market linkages and business networks for the Micro, Small & medium and Small Enterprises.
• Documentation and dissemination of success stories & lessons learnt in the program.
• Participate in the development, review and update process of training materials.
• Evaluation of trainings conducted.
• Monitoring, reporting and reviewing the progress of the program.

Qualifications
