JOB PURPOSE:

This position will be responsible for providing the vision, leadership, and strategic direction the organization needs to support all learning in the Business School by translating knowledge to action while serving all stakeholders including students, staff, alumni, and external clients. The position will also drive and position Executive Coaching and Mentoring as the main differentiator for the Business School.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a vision and strategic plan to guide the Executive Mentoring and Coaching agenda of the school and act as the professional advisor to the Management Committee on all aspects of the Executive Coaching and Mentoring activities. This will also involve conducting official correspondence relating to Executive Coaching and Mentoring on behalf of SBS and representing SBS at activities that enhance the organization’s profile and visibility.
• Drive business and visibility by coordinating the design business development strategy, products and services, and marketing strategy for the department including revenue-generating sources, sales targets, and client engagement platforms for new business. This also involves positioning SBS as a coaching and mentoring provider of choice for alumni and external clients.
• Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the Executive Coaching and Mentoring department through the development of an operational and Management plan that incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of Executive Coaching and Mentoring, drafting policies, procedures, and protocols to manage the Executive Coaching and Mentoring programs and establishing definable and comparable metrics of a successful coaching program.
• Liaise with international faculty to design and deliver relevant coaching programs while ensuring that the programs and services offered by the organization contribute to the organization’s mission and reflect the priorities of Strathmore Business School.
• Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures, and practices including the development of job descriptions for Executive Coaches, Mentors, and administrators, recruit, interview, and select Executive Coaches and Mentors that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization’s mission and ensure that they receive an orientation to the SBS coaching concept and that appropriate training is provided.
• Implement a performance management system for the Executive Coaches, Mentors, and administrators which includes monitoring their performance on an ongoing basis and conducting an annual performance review.
• Ensure the smooth running of operations in the department through the preparation and monitoring of the departmental budget and monitor the monthly cash flow.
• Drive the research and development of Executive Coaching and Mentoring including the compiling of anecdotal evidence in both, writing cases related to organizational and personal agenda success stories, and presenting research papers in relevant promotional platforms.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The post holder will be required to have and to demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

• A master’s degree in a relevant field
• Recognised Coach and Mentor certifications by International regulatory bodies of coaching and mentoring
• At least 5 years experience in a senior management position

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for placing, answering and directing all telephone calls received through the switch board in a professional and informative manner.
• Coordinate the collection and dispatch of both incoming and outgoing mails while ensuring proper record keeping.

JOB PURPOSE:

As the Business/MSME Advisor, and with the support of the County Coordinator and County Administrator, the person will be in charge of driving entrepreneurs and businesses through our Kenya SBDC four focus areas which include: Business Development Services, Facilitating Access to Finance, Providing Trade/Market Information and Exploring Policy Innovations. Using the SBDC model, the person will be assigned businesses to who they will assist in thinking through key aspects of their business model, their strategies – be it product design, marketing, supply chain, value chain, or sales and distribution.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Represent Mombasa SBDC in relevant meetings within the county.
• Liaise with the Mombasa SBDC County Coordinators on the progress of the business including writing periodic progress reports.
• Liaise with the M&E specialist in measurable and quantifiable results.
• Liaise with the Mombasa SBDC County Coordinators and Administrators in facilitating our four focus areas, screening and selection of business applicants, putting together an exciting cohort, and including the collection of relevant information and data.
• Conduct/supervise comprehensive diagnostic assessments of MSMEs, assessing their needs to improve their products and services, quality standards, market strategy, and employee capacity.

• Carry out regular site visits at partner enterprises. 50% to 70% of the Advisor’s time is expected to be spent in the field with the private sector.

JOB PURPOSE: 

• This position is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for all Academic Programs in the Strathmore University Business School (SBS). Responsible for curriculum development and management, educational quality assessment and improvement, academic support for the faculty, and to facilitate an inclusive and stimulating learning environment for the diverse student body.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage implementation of all Academic Programs offered by SBS, including planning, resource allocation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Manage development of the SBS human capital in collaboration with the Executive Dean, Faculty Director, and People & Culture Manager.
• Ensure that learning and teaching activities of the SBS are undertaken in accordance with the governance, policy and regulatory frameworks of the University Council, University Management Board, Academic Council, and their respective committees.
• Monitor the SBS’s curriculum and ensure that it is responsive to the students and market needs by facilitating the development/amendments of the syllabi and regulations for faculty courses/programs.
• Encourage collaboration with the research office and research centers, hubs and institutes to encourage research-based content and case studies.
• Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous quality improvement of innovative curricula, partnerships, and Industry linkages.
• Ensure that students enrolled in SBS are supported to get placement for community and industrial attachments and that supervision and evaluation of the intended experiential learning is done as per the University’s standards.
• Knowledge of imminent academic trends likely to affect future educational offerings.
• Oversee processes in academic and student records, including contracts for faculty.
• Collaborate with the Quality and Strategy Manager to coordinate the accreditation processes and provide oversight for AACSB faculty qualifications and impact assessments.
• Serving as a member on the SBS Management Committee.
• Represent SBS at events and activities when the Executive Dean is unavailable

Duties & Responsibilities:

Legal Compliance

• Advise the People and Culture Compliance Manager on all emerging employment-related laws, Universities Act legislation and standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Review and revise the People and Culture policies, procedures, protocols and employee handbooks to ensure legal and internal policy compliance.
• Advise the People and Culture Compliance Manager on the legal implications of policies and practices to mitigate potential risks.
• Monitor changes in employment laws and regulations and provide recommendations for updates or modifications as necessary.

Employment and Labour Relations

• Provide legal guidance and support to the People and Culture Compliance Manager on employment-related matters including but not limited to recruitment, terminations and disciplinary.
• Conduct legal research on employment law issues and prepare legal opinions and memoranda.
• Review, draft, maintain and regularly update all types of templates related to employment contracts and related documentation including but not limited to draft employment contracts, offer letters, confidentiality agreements, mutual separation agreements, discharge vouchers and other People and Culture-related legal documents.
• Guide the People and Culture Compliance Manager on the legal aspects related to employee complaints, grievances other employment-related issues.
• Assist in developing and maintaining positive relationships with labour unions, if applicable.
• Collaborate with People and Culture Compliance Manager to handle labour disputes, negotiations, and collective bargaining agreements.

Training and Education

• In consultation with the People and Culture Compliance Manager develop and deliver training programs to educate the People and Culture team and the relevant internal stakeholders on legal compliance, employment law, and best practices.
• In consultation with the People and Culture Compliance Manager prepare and update training materials, presentations, and resources related to employment law.

Legal Documentation and Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate and organized legal records and documentation related to People and Culture matters.
• Prepare and review legal documents, including employment contracts, settlement agreements, and severance agreements.
• Collaborate with the People and Culture Compliance Manager to ensure proper handling and storage of sensitive employee information.
• Any other duty may be assigned from time to time by the University.

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law.
• Admission to the Bar with a valid practicing license
• Any certification in a Human Resource certification will be an added advantage

Experience:

• At least 3 years’ post-admission experience
• Experience in higher education is preferred.

Basic job summary: 

• The Job Holder will be responsible for the execution of all Loans and Accounting functions of the Financial Aid Office in line with the University’s policies, accounting standards and best practice. He/she will support the Head of Financial Aid in managing internal and external Financial Aid loans and accounts.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Verification of payments: Ensure accurate and timely verification of all students’ disbursements (hostel fees, tuition fees, grad-prep reimbursements, stipends); and FAO suppliers payments.
• Financial Reporting: Preparation of quarterly reports on Financial Aid Expenditures for SU and external FAO partners, monthly FAO management accounts and Ad hoc reports to external and internal partners/donors as required;

• Loan Management: Assist Program Managers and Head of FAO in student loan management activities including preparation of loan repayment schedules, disbursement of student loans and follow up with students to ensure timely repayment of loans;
• Investment: Make investment of monies (loan or otherwise) received from donors/partners in income generating ventures as determined by the University to facilitate payment of other FAO benefits such as accommodation and meals
• Student Account/Donor Accounts Reconciliations: Reconciliation of Scholarship students and donor accounts to help avoid, identify and correct any mistakes; 
• Advisory: Responding to parent and student inquiries on the various financial aid related matters including providing student loan statements and accommodation transaction slip;
• Records Management: Ensure proper filing of accommodation invoices, fee and work-study claim forms, all loanee documents and ensure that all money received is correctly receipted and accounted for.
• Work-Study Payroll Management: verify and ensure timely and accurate processing of work-study salaries and making statutory deductions by FAO Accounts Assistant.
• Loans Management: Facilitate overall student loans disbursement, monthly recovery and monthly reporting by ensuring that student’s loans data and repayments are adequately captured, maintained and reported in the SU, Kiva, HELB, Fomento and External Loan Systems; Liaise with Financial Aid staff to ensure that students make their monthly repayments on time including internal check-offs for loanees on SU and Work-study payroll.
