VillageReach aims to reach 100 million people in Africa by 2026 and 350 million people in Africa by 2030. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play an exciting and rewarding role in helping build VillageReach’s transformative growth and impact. The CFO is a strategic leader who will plan, lead, and ensure quality control over VillageReach global finances, financial activities and systems, and the financial strength of the organization. The CFO provides strategic leadership, financial expertise, and management oversight over VillageReach financial strategy, budgeting, planning and analysis, payroll, banking, tax, accounting, and auditing functions; ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal controls, funding requirements, and the highest standards of financial management to meet current and future needs of the organization. As a member of the Executive Team, the CFO will also provide strategic leadership to VillageReach and align our organizational vision and strategy and the financial goals and objectives across the organization.

This position directly supervises up to five (5) US-based staff, with dotted line support of three (3) additional finance staff located in country offices. The CFO carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; monitoring performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

This position can be located in the East Coast of the US (NY, MD or DC preferred) or in one of the African countries where VillageReach has presence (South Africa, Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi, DRC, Cote d’Ivoire, Tanzania, or Liberia). Candidates must be already qualified to work in one of these locations.
Location of position is flexible, as long as the candidate is able to work hours that overlap with both our Africa and US offices. VillageReach has no private offices, employees work in a shared, open environment with task and conference rooms accessible to employees for privacy and meetings. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Due to the time zone differences between our Seattle office and our Africa Offices and location of other global staff, US based staff are expected to be available for early morning meetings starting at 6am; and global HQ and Country office staff are expected to be available for late afternoon/evening meetings up to 6pm. Role is computer based and requires sitting and/or standing at a desk, using a mouse, keyboard, and laptop and viewing screens.

VillageReach has an established compensation structure that is based on the relevant market and internally transparent. The starting range for this position is $153,300 to $193,100. We hire people into the established range based on one’s experience and education and considering internal equity. We do not inquire about salary history.
