Your Mission

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our finance team for a Finance & Accounting Manager. The purpose of the job will be:

 

  • To ensure timeous and accurate financial accounting information.
  • To manage and control the general ledger, overheads & cash flow, ensuring that all statutory and group obligations are adhered to.
  • To ensure that adequate financial controls are in place to prevent any risk.
  • To manage and motivate the financial accounts staff.
  • To support LBU and FiSS on Financial queries.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

Planning

 

  • Plan all Accounting procedures and deadlines, given the monthly/year-end closing deadlines set by the Financial Manager / France in order to achieve these deadlines.
  • Plan and coordinate staff around the given time plan in order to achieve deadlines.
  • Advise all staff involved in supplying closing data of the set / planned deadlines in order to receipt this timeously.
  • Anticipate any timing problems which may jeopardise deadlines and act in order to prevent a breach of such deadlines.

 

Manager

 

  • Manage and coordinate staff.
  • Ensure that they work according to the laid down job descriptions and that they achieve their goals timeously and meet the prescribed deadlines.
  • Maintaining and Balancing Monthly General Ledger.
  • Ensure that all General Ledger accounts genuinely reflect the financial position of the company and that where necessary the relevant corrections are effected timeously.
  • Ensure that Asset and Liability Accounts genuinely reflect the company's financial position at all times.
  • Assess all budgeted positions against actual performance before closing at month end and either schedule extreme items that were correct or to effect correct journals before presenting the accounts to the Financial Manager.
  • Ensure that all Bank Accounts and credit card statements are reconciled to the general ledger accounts and when necessary misallocated incorrect amounts are followed up
  • Ensure that at all times travel advances are up to date and fully reconciled.
  • Ensure that the bookkeeper’s reconciliations are up to date and signed off on a monthly basis
  • Ensure that all Creditor’s Reconciliation are up to date and signed off
  • Liaise with Human Resources and Costing and ensure that the reconciliations for which they are responsible are copied to finance and that they are up to date and correct
  • Ensure that all Control Accounts balance to their Auxiliary ledgers and that all Suspense Accounts are either nil or have been reconciled and acted upon Ensure that all books of account are up to date and accessible at all times.
  • Ensure that all documentation is archived according to accounting policy

 

HFM and Shuttle Reporting Responsibility

 

  • Actual
  • Global function BBT
  • RF Global and other functions

 

Cash Flow

 

  • Maintain a daily/monthly cash flow and submit this to the Financial Manager
  • Control the bank account balances and ensure that there is sufficient cash on the No. 1 Account to facilitate daily use. All reserves are to be transferred to Call Deposits.
  • Ensure that all creditors are paid timeously and in accordance with their terms and conditions
  • Ensure that the correct settlement discounts are received/taken.

 

Reporting

 

  • Prepare the monthly and annual reports (Monthly reports within, a max, of 5 working days of closing)
  • Supply the necessary Auxiliary reports as and when required
  • Ensure the maintenance of the final asset register and ensure that this balances with the general ledger and to control purchases against budget and report deviations

 

VAT

 

  • Ensure VAT is paid timeously as not to incur interest charges
  • Ensure that the treatment of VAT is correct on all payments in order that the company takes full advantage of the credits, as well as the debtor treatment of VAT

 

Foreign Group payments

 

  • Ensure that the bank is in receipt of the correct signed documents timeously in order that the payment deadlines set by them are met (in conjunction with the cost accountant)

 

Human Resources

 

  • Liaise with the Human Resources Manager who is responsible for the Management and Control of all HR accounts in the General Ledger.
  • Ensure that all Reconciliations are performed on a monthly basis, that they are correct, and are filed in the monthly Reconciliation File.
  • Ensure that reconciling items are followed up timeously by the HR Division.
  • Ensure that the HR Cash Book Reconciliation is performed on a monthly basis and is correct.

 

Costing

 

  • Liaise with the Cost Accountant who is responsible for the Management and Control of Costing.
  • Ensure that all Reconciliations and Confirmations are correct, and are filed in the monthly Reconciliation File.

 

Logistics Finance Business Partner and support

 

  • Complete and update monthly GSC reporting.
  • Liaise with GSC contact, to discuss actual numbers and adjust where required.
  • Assist GSC contact with Forecasted figures.

 

Shared Services

 

  • Liaise with FISS/Genpact
  • Review and Monitor Shared Services performance

 

Key Relationships:

 

  • The incumbent will be in frequent relations with the Finance & Accounts Team and the CFO
  • The incumbent will be in frequent relations with the Auditors, Tax Consultants, Banks, Company Secretary

Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

  • Flexibility, capacity to listen and learn.
  • Ability to work in a network and the in a group in an international environment, in a collaborative way
  • Well-organized and well structured
  • Clear & synthetic communication
  • Good MS Office Skills particularly in Excel.
  • Experience with an ERP (SAP) is an added advantage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce/Finance/Accounting or related fields
  • CPA or Degree in Accounting / Finance/ ACCA Qualification
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial and management accounting particularly in a manufacturing-based Company
  • Relevant experience in External audit and costing is advantageous
  • Must have an Audit background
  • Ability to manage a team
  • SAP experience
