Mary’s Meals International (MMI) is seeking expressions of interest from a Global Reward Consultant to support Mary’s Meals in resolving global salary differential and global terms and conditions. We estimate this work will take up to 15 days and will be completed remotely.

  • Salaries for global roles

Over the last 3 years, MMI’s recruitment policies have changed significantly. We have changed from being an organisation with employees predominantly in and around Glasgow to being a “remote first” global organisation. As of March 23, we have people contracted to MMI roles based in 11 countries including Liberia, Canada, USA, Italy, Kenya and Malawi. 27 (22%) of 124 MMI employees are currently based outside of the UK. All global roles are paid using a salary scale which is benchmarked in the UK. This creates challenges and we wish to review how salary and benefits decisions are made for employees in different locations.

We currently have an inconsistent approach to how employees in different categories are contracted. We wish to review the use of, and benefits attached to global/HQ, national and international contracts to increase greater consistency.

Purpose of this assignment

  • Global Salary Differentiation: To explore options that would enable MMI to pay locally appropriate salaries for roles of the same size. This would see us differentiating pay by location and thereby offer salaries that are appropriate to the employee’s local market whilst still being in line with MMI’s pay philosophy and grading structure.
  • Global Terms and Conditions: To review the different employment categories that currently exist across Mary’s Meals and to develop a framework which enables consistency in our application of terms and conditions for people working as part of one of the following groups: international, national, global and those on temporary assignment outside of their home country.

Expected deliverables:

  • Costs, benefits and potential risks associated with any options presented.
  • Develop a Global Remunerations Policy that will communicate:
    • How we will reward MMI employees based outside of the UK receiving salaries and benefits that are appropriate to their local context.
    • Agreed definitions on the contract type and terms and conditions that will be used in future.
  • Develop guidelines/procedures that outline how the policies would be operationalised to include how salary and benefit decisions would be made, how data will be kept-up-to date and any costs associated with the adoption and ongoing management of a new model.

Essential details about this assignment:

This work can be completed remotely from anywhere in the world and is anticipated to take up to 15 days to complete.

Ideally, deliverables to be completed by 30th June 2023.

The consultant(s) will report regularly to the Head of HR Services - Bernardine Dowdall
