Medical Specialist II – Orthopaedic Surgeon - 2 Posts

Requirements for appointment:

•  Be a Kenyan citizen;
•  Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
•  A Masters Degree in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery from a University recognized in Kenya;
•  Registered as a Medical/Specialist by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
•  Have a Valid Practicing License;
•  Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;
•  Willing to undertake duties in person in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time.

Duties and responsibilities:
The Orthopaedic Surgeon shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:

•  Conduct weekly Orthopaedic outpatient clinics;
•  Conduct weekly major ward rounds;
•  Conduct Orthopaedic related surgical operations;
•  Respond to Orthopaedic related emergencies;
•  Interpret diagnostic tests such as CT Scans, MRIs, X-Rays etc;
•  Prescribe and administer medications as appropriate;
•  Supervise and train junior doctors, Interns and medical students;
•  Keep and update patients’ medical record/notes;
•  Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical team;
•  Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
