Requirements for appointment

•  Be a Kenyan citizen;
•  Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
•  Must have completed a Master’s Degree in Internal Medicine from a University recognized in Kenya;
•  Registered as a Medical Specialist Practitioner by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
•  Have a Valid Practicing License;
•  Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;
•  Willing to undertake duties Physically in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time.

Duties and responsibilities

The Physician will be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:

•  Formulation, implementation and review of all health policies, regulations, standards, guidelines and protocols;
•  Reviewing patients and instructing in writing all the recommendations;
•  Undertaking ‘Second-on-Call’ duties including clerking, investigating and managing patients;
•  Conducting weekly clinics;
•  Conducting research and clinical audits;
•  Training, supervising and mentoring Medical Officers, Medical Interns and other students;
•  Undertaking medico-legal duties;
•  Undertaking medical examinations and preparing Medical Board proceedings;
•  Ensuring data and information is collected, transmitted and utilized to benefit the client and service provider;
•  Conducting disease surveillance, prevention and control; and
•  Carrying out health education and promotion;
•  Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
