Background

SoCha is contracted to deliver the USAID/Kenya and East Africa (KEA) Localization, Inclusion, and Sustainability Activity (LISA) with the aim of assisting USAID staff and stakeholders to be more efficient, effective, transparent, inclusive, and skilled in achieving development outcomes. To achieve this, LISA seeks to enhance USAID/KEA’s organizational project design; programming; Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) practices; diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) objectives, and mission-wide localization efforts by elevating local voices and co-developing and co-creating USAID/KEA programs with local partners, including marginalized populations, girls and women, and youth.

Scope of Work

The LISA program, implemented by SoCha LLC, seeks an Enumerator (Consultant) to provide data collection during field work for an assessment on the HPN/USAID KEA Maternal and Newborn Health Program. The assessment will be conducted in nine (9) counties namely Vihiga, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Nakuru, Kwale, Turkana and Nairobi counties. The consultant will be contracted by SoCha and will report directly to the designated Technical Lead (Consultant).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and field work: Capture and collection of data using observation, interviewing, listening and abstraction from data sources including reports and charts at facilities and during facility assessments, focus group discussion (FGD) and key informant interviews (KII).
  • Documentation and Reporting: Organize and share the completed data collection forms (including individual and summary notes) during the facility assessments, focus group discussion (FGD) and key informant interviews (KII).
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance, data accuracy, and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, health sciences and any related fields from a recognized university.
  • The enumerator should have over three years of expertise in data collection and field work during stakeholder engagements including facility assessments, focus group discussion (FGD) and key informant interviews (KII).
  • An understanding of Maternal Neonatal Health (MNH) Standards and guidelines is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional interpersonal relations skills.

Location:

Will be based in the assigned county from the nine counties (Vihiga, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Nakuru, Kwale, Turkana and Nairobi counties.
