About the role

Working as part of Nutrition International’s Program Operations Team, and based in or near the Africa Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya, the position provides advice and grant management support to various Nutrition International staff as it relates to the organization’s food fortification portfolio and aligned approaches. The position specifically supports Fortification Senior Program Officers in our country offices, as well as the Global Portfolio Director to ensure effective management of projects goals and objectives ensuring we carry out activities and submit reports on time and in good standing. The post-holder will support NI staff in developing and implementing LSFF programs primarily in Africa.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, or provide inputs to NI project performance measurement (monitoring, and as needed, evaluation) frameworks Provide strategic input, and technical guidance, across the projects’ activities;
• Support the development of NI Project Concept Notes and proposals in the field of Food Fortification adding value through applying up-to-date subject awareness to ensure proposals are sound, realistic, achievable and sustainable.
• Provide technical quality assurance and support to NI staff and partners in implementing food fortification programs ensuring appropriate engagement of Government, development partners and other key stakeholders.
• Support in the development of Terms of Reference for key program components.
• Monitor spending and support the development of workplans.
• Support country teams to produce donor reports on time and to a high quality.
• Develop networks and collaborative relations to facilitate and reinforce sharing of best practice with other relevant programs, experts and organizations in Africa and globally.
• Promote the value and use of effective food fortification strategies to stakeholders and government counterparts.
• Support NI country teams through tracking their work in monitoring and reporting on FF interventions providing suggestions for quality improvement as appropriate.
• Monitor approaches, roles of selected partners, tools, materials and strategies developed across NI food fortification projects and interventions to identify opportunities for disseminating for organizational learning.
• Support the design and conduct of efficacy and effectiveness studies related to food fortification interventions in the Africa Region, as requested.

About you

You have;

• Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Processing, Food Science; or in the fields of public health, nutrition, engineering, if supported by appropriate experience in working in Food Fortification At least 15 years working experience in international development or a related area.
• A minimum of 6 years’ experience working in food fortification or a related field, with a strong preference for significant experience in Africa and understanding of nutrition.
• Awareness and experience of both Public Health and Private Sector issues and approaches to food fortification.

About the role

Under the overall responsibility and direct supervision of the Director and Senior Technical Advisor, Governance and Social Safety Net Programs, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of the of multiple workstreams of the project, including day-to-day coordination, as well as providing strategic guidance, to ensure the timely delivery of project outputs across all teams. The Manager will therefore be working closely with Nutrition International’s technical leads for each workstream, whether at headquarters, regional or country offices, Bank staff , and project consultants. Additionally, the Manager will provide technical support on integrating nutrition into Bank projects, while providing capacity development and other support to the Bank’s nutrition team.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Ensure the coordinated delivery of project activities and outputs, ensuring integration and cohesiveness across all workstreams which include programming, advocacy, guidance development, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity development.
• Provide strategic input, and technical guidance, across the projects’ activities;
• Prepare timely and quality reporting on project implementation and results, supporting NI’s reporting to BoN partners;
• Provide support in the planning, identification, recruitment and supervision of consultants as required by the project workplan;
• Working with technical leads, prepare and monitor annual Work Plans, ensuring timely preparation and implementation of project activities
• Coordinate the engagement of NI regional and country teams in various aspects of work as appropriate and in accordance with the workplan and project needs.
• Ensure effective liaison and maintain good communication with the Bank, other BoN partners, and other key stakeholders, including organizing, with the Regional Manager and technical leads, regular BoN Partner update meetings, workshops, trainings and other engagements with Bank staff
• Based on an analysis of the Bank’s project pipeline and portfolio, provide direct technical advice for integrating nutrition into current and upcoming Bank-funded projects;
• Ensure the use of the Bank’s toolkits for nutrition-smart programming across the different stages of the project cycle;
• Support the onboarding of new nutrition staff at the Bank, and provide ongoing support and mentoring;
• Draft and develop the format, outline and content of country and regional training packages for integrating nutrition-smart approaches into Bank processes and plans across regions and key sectors, drawing on existing BoN guidance, tools and materials, and using training needs assessments conducted among Bank staff, government partners and other stakeholders.
• Liaise closely and undertake specific technical collaborations as needed with all other NI staff and expert consultants working on the project.

About you

You have;

• Master’s Degree or Doctorate in applied Nutrition or closely related area.
• At least 15 years working experience in international development or a related area
• At least 10 years working in nutrition with recognized and demonstrated technical expertise, including in nutrition policy development/analysis and multi-sectoral approaches/programming in nutrition;
• Extensive experience in the management of complex projects at national or regional levels with international organizations or development agencies in Africa;
• Experience working with Multilateral Development Banks and asset;
• Strong management skills and demonstrable ability to provide strategic guidance, technical oversight, and analyse data to drive project strategies and informed decisions.

• As the Global Portfolio Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Global Portfolio Directors in managing designated projects within our Maternal Newborn Health and Nutrition (MNHN) and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (AHN) portfolios. You will collaborate closely with our country teams and technical experts within the Global Technical Services (GTS) unit to ensure seamless coordination. Your responsibilities include overseeing project management, fostering strategic relationships, grant management, budget management, and contributing to resource mobilization efforts. The Global Portfolio Manager will work alongside a cross-functional team to ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering to contractual obligations and organizational policies.

• The REACTS-IN program will implement an integrated, multisectoral, evidence-based intervention that will address the key determinants of nutrition, gender inequalities and sexual reproductive ill health in underserved and rural target areas . The program’s ultimate outcome is: Improved nutrition, nutrition-related rights, and gender equality for the poorest women, adolescent girls, and children under five years of age. This will be achieved through three intermediate outcomes: ensuring Women and Adolescent Girls (WAGs) have equitable access to nutrition, health, WASH and SRHR practices, enhanced availability, and quality of gender-equitable and responsive nutrition, health and SRH services, and through strengthening the effectiveness of local stakeholders including rights groups in realizing the nutrition and SRH rights WAGs.  REACTS-IN will be implemented in Elgeyo Marakwet county.

About the role

• The program assistant main role is to contribute to the effectiveness of REACTS-IN program in Kenya through providing efficient program and administrative support services to the project team to ensure appropriate grants and program support in a timely and efficient manner to ensure that the NI program delivery, in line with NI’s policies and procedures and objectives.

Key responsibilities;

• Assist program officers in reviewing project proposals from consultants / grantees and advice prior to contracting.
• Assist the REACTS- IN team with the management and tracking of program budgets, milestones, reports to ensure that all obligations are met by the recipient and NI.
• Undertake day-to-day project administrative responsibilities such as determining funds available to project, preparing project estimated costs in consultation with the Accounts Officer and, responding to recipient’s requests for budgetary reallocations etc

• Draft grant and consultancy agreements; prepare contract approval sheet (CAS) and seek necessary approvals.
• Monitor contracts and recipient grants and maintain the same in the contracts database
• In consultation with NI personnel, liaise with grantee on the submission of technical reports and ensure obligations are met by both the grantee and NI.
• Prepare Funding approval form, seek the necessary approvals; forward fund transfer to grantee/consultants.
• Review financial statements from consultants/grantees to ensure that they meet the grants/consultancy criteria stipulated in signed agreement and give appropriate feedback to the program officer(s).

We're seeking a skilled and dedicated Technical Advisor to provide strategic support and technical expertise to our program planning and management efforts. In this role, you'll work closely with the Program Director, HQ staff, and regional/country offices to drive initiatives that enhance nutrition governance and promote collaboration across units. Your contributions will play a vital role in advancing nutrition-sensitive social protection and related areas.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with the Program Director, HQ teams, and regional/country offices to assess and analyze Nutrition Governance performance through system evaluations, context analyses, and political-economy studies.
• Manage and oversee external consultants, ensuring the successful execution of deliverables to strengthen Nutrition Governance and integrate nutrition issues into key sectors such as Health and Social Protection.
• Contribute to the development of guidance, best practices, and tools related to Nutrition Governance and Nutrition-Sensitive Social Protection, based on international evidence.
• Support the conceptualization and potential launch of an NI Nutrition Governance Initiative, applying governance and systems approaches to nutrition-sensitive initiatives.

About the role:

The USAID AFFORD Policy Enabling Environment Technical Advisorwill be responsible for leading on-the-ground efforts to ensure a strong "policy enabling environment". This will include first and foremost assessing what information is already available in country and then leading in-country situation assessments / landscape analyses, as necessary, inclusive of: assessing existing fortification policy, legislation, standards, and monitoring structures; identifying their gaps; identifying where there is interest and opportunity across policy elements to leverage innovative approaches to increase program efficiency, reach, and impact; and mapping a way forward.

This position may include identifying and managing local consultants to support these assessments, where necessary. The position will contribute to the design, delivery, and review of national-level policy enabling environment plans, approaches, and tools, as relevant, and ensuring their quality, practicality, scalability, and technical relevance and accuracy. Finally, this role will require leading coordination with other AFFORD IR personnel and activities within to ensure synergies, effective collaboration, technically sound and robust assessments and recommendations, and reduce redundancies.

The Procurement & Contracting Officer, Africa will be reporting to the Manager Contracting and Procurement, Africa. The Procurement & Contracting Officer works in the region to ensure all procurement and contracting complies with the organizational policies and procedures. This position works in close collaboration with the countries, regional, and HQ teams to ensure all contracts adhere to contracting standards and are the best value for money.

About you

• You will have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration, Law, Commerce or related field.
• A professional qualification in Supply Chain/Procurement Management is an added advantage. You should have knowledge of procurement and contracting principles and best practices in an NGO or international development setting.

About the role

In this role you will:

• Reviews and provides comments for changes to grants/consulting agreements conditions (budget supplements, time extensions) as well as any ensuing amendments
• Verify that the budgets are available in CDB before processing the contracts
