St Andrew’s, Prep School is seeking to appoint a Music Teaching Mentor. Their primary role will in providing the very best academic support in the music classroom, and in the Co-curricular Music Field, through helping with the teaching and learning opportunities for the music classes and ensembles assigned. They will also be expected to be able to lead Sunday Worship on Alternate Weekends.

Key areas of responsibility will be to:-

Boarding

• Promote the welfare of children and to support the School in safeguarding children through relevant policies and procedures
• Maintain good order and discipline among the pupils, safeguarding their health and safety
• Provide support and assistance to House Parents
• Be part of the Boarding House team, involved in decision making on the activities, initiatives, routines and pastoral arrangements.
• Perform pastoral duties in the evening and weekends

Academic

• Provide support and assistance to teachers
• Assist in developing lesson plans based on the School’s schemes of work and the specific needs of each child
• Proficient use of Notation Software such as Sibelius, Finale and or Musescore.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor the development of each child
• Understand the teacher’s routine when it comes to delivering a lesson plan and running the class in the event that the teacher is absent on a particular day.
• Work with children in the classroom to promote their learning and development
• Provide cover for lessons when required
• Co-Curricular Music and Other Duties
• Generate and update Peripatetic Lesson Timetables, which requires proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 and particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Lead the administration and management of the Peripatetic Music Programme
• Co-lead Vocal and/or Instrumental Ensemble Groups

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding, well-qualified teacher of Mathematics to teach engaged and committed students across all age groups.

The successful candidate would be expected to teach up to and including A Level, and good experience with teaching Mechanics would be advantageous. Mathematics is a successful and popular subject at St Andrew’s, with multiple classes running in Years 12 and 13 and Further Mathematics an option for our top students. The School comprises two semi-autonomous Schools for pupils between the ages of 3 – 13 in the Preparatory School and 13-18 in the Senior School.
The House Matron is a senior school appointment and will support the House Parents (HP) and the Senior Matron in the provision of pastoral care to the students and in the day to day management of the House.

Main Responsibilities

1. Providing Pastoral care to the students of the particular boarding house
2. Ensuring that the boarding house is maintained in excellent condition
3. Supervising students during free time in the boarding house during the day and at weekends.
4. Liaising with the Medical Centre staff to ensure communication of relevant medical and pastoral concerns raised in the Medical Centre regarding students from their house
5. Overseeing the Dhobi system for the boarding house, ensuring that students are regularly having clothes washed and that the system is working effectively.
