JOB OBJECTIVE:

To oversee all activities relating to financial management and financial reporting in the subsidiary.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Functionally reports to: Group Chief Finance Officer
  • Administratively reports to: Country CEO
  • Supervises: Finance Team

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement financial policies, processes and internal control to increase organizational financial effectiveness and control
  • Effectively lead and oversee the finance function of the business.
  • Head the improvement of the financial operations of the subsidiary.
  • Responsible for organizational financial planning, budgeting, reporting and analysis.
  • Liaise with the compliance department of the group to ensure that requisite targets are set and monitored.
  • Development of short and long term strategic financial objectives that are in line with the group’s financial plan
  • Ensure quality of subsidiary’s financial reports.
  • Constant review of the expense, revenue and other components of the annual budget to determine the accurate financial position of the organization at all times and to recommend suitable actions.
  • Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
  • Maintain the accounting policies to support the banks’ operations
  • Carry out all tasks as assigned by the Group Chief Financial Officer

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Prompt rendition of returns/reports
  • Strict compliance with policies & procedures
  • Financials – Achievement of PBT target
  • Accuracy in preparation of financial statements
  • Quality of reports
  • Subsidiary fraud level
  • Revenue assurance from Income leakages

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics
  • A Master’s degree in a Business-related subject will be an added advantage.
  • Professional qualifications – CPA/ACCA Finalist.
  • Must be a Member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

Minimum requisite experience – At least 10 years banking experience; 5 years in core Finance Department.

Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of Finance, Economics and Financial accounting and tax
  • Financial Reporting, and analysis
  • Business risk management
  • Knowledge of Financial budgeting,
  • Market awareness.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory pronouncements and subsidiary financial laws.

  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prepare high quality reports.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
