Purpose of the role

  • Join our team and make a meaningful impact in rural Kenya! We are recruiting passionate field managers for a project focused on selling and distributing affordable reading glasses to rural communities in Kenya. Through household door-to-door visits and community eye camps, you will help bring improved vision and essential eyewear to underserved communities in Narok, Bomet and Kiambu counties.

Job Description

  • Team Management:
    • Recruit, train, and develop a team of 10-15 sales agents specializing in selling reading glasses.
    • Set clear performance expectations and targets for the sales team.
    • Motivate and inspire the team to achieve their sales goals.
    • Provide regular coaching and performance feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and implement necessary corrective actions when needed.
    • Foster a positive team culture and promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Sales Strategy and Planning:
    • Carry out awareness for the entry and distribution for the reading glasses. Organizing and mobilizing village elder meetings ( village entries)
    • Mobilizing eye camps on favorable days such as market days or other activities that bring members of the community together.
    • Creating awareness in community self-help groups, religious gatherings or other social gatherings.
    • Monitor already set targets and create action plans to achieve them.
    • Monitor areas of improvement and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Sales Operations:
    • Plan and organize sales activities, including scheduling visits to rural communities.
    • Ensure timely, efficient and effective distribution of reading glasses to sales agents in the team.
    • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the supply chain to ensure product availability.
    • Keep track of sales records and carry out daily reconciliations on sales numbers and product levels.
    • Conduct regular field visits to provide on-the-job training, support, and guidance.
    • Daily monitoring of sales activities, track performance, and generate reports for management review.
    • Identify sales opportunities and potential partnerships with local organizations( schools, dispensaries, local chief-offices or other businesses)
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Gather customer feedback and insights to improve product delivery
    • Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate reading glasses solutions.
    • Conduct customer awareness campaigns and educational programs on the importance of eye health.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare daily sales reports, including sales performance per sales agent
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sales strategies and initiatives.
    • Utilize tools or systems provided to track and manage customer information and sales activities.
  • Compliance and Ethics:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
    • Educate and train the sales team on ethical selling practices.
    • Monitor and enforce adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer and company information.

Qualifications

  • Diploma level education
  • Proven experience as a Field Manager or fieldwork experience.
  • Ability to speak a local dialect in the mentioned Counties
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to build a relationship with leaders and stakeholders in the community (county health leads, chiefs, school heads, etc)
  • Ability to recruit and manage a team of sales agents
  • Strong organization and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Negotiation and sales skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • A keen eye on details for accuracy.
  • Good time management skills.
