Lab Technician

Job Purpose

Providing technical support in Science Laboratories (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) by implementing the SABIS® Educational System to ensure an environment conducive to learning. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly in the lab.
• Ensuring that equipment is properly cleaned.
• Ensuring that chemicals and apparatus are appropriately stored.
• Ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and ready to use.
• Ensuring that correct chemicals and apparatus are available and ready for particular lessons.
• Being able to prepare solutions of desired concentrations from stock bottles.
• Being able to prepare indicator solutions from stock solid.
• Fixing equipment in the lab.
• Running trials of experiments prior to classes to ensure smooth running of classes.
• Managing the stock control of chemicals and equipment in laboratories.
• Distributing science posters to classes for display each term.
• Coordinating the use of labs and equipment among various classes and teachers.
• Working closely with teachers during lab sessions and helping students when needed.
• Liaising with Heads of Departments to prepare a timetable for lab use and to set requirements of various sessions inside and outside the labs.
• Preparing the lab for AS and A-Level board exams.
• Completing other administrative task assigned by the school administration.

Ideal Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in a related subject or equivalent 
• English proficiency and communication skills
• Knowledge of MS Office applications
• Ability to work within a team
