Role Summary

  • The Tony Blair Institute (TBI) continues to rapidly grow its team in Africa. To support our work, we are recruiting an outstanding candidate to lead the recruiting function in Africa in all its recruiting needs, sourcing strategy and execution, recruitment programs design and implementation as well as creating exceptional candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
  • The role will report to the Executive Director, Africa and will work closely with the Leadership Team across the region as well as the central teams in the UK and Globally and will help the Institute to attract exceptional talent in a timely, efficient & cost-effective manner while promoting diverse & inclusive hiring practices. This is a critical, external facing role in the People Team that will help to shape the growth of the Institute through the attraction and retention of exception talent at all levels of the organization.
  • This role can be based in either Johannesburg or Nairobi. Both locations require applicants to have the RTW in Country.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role will lead the recruitment function in Africa to attract and retain top talent and will be the brand ambassador for the Institute in our recruitment processes.
  • Working closely with the Africa Leadership Team, People Team and the Hiring Managers, this role will act as a talent strategist and will define, develop, and embed a fit for purpose hiring strategy to meet the hiring needs of the Institute whilst serving as a strong partner and a consultative resource to all the stakeholders.
  • Whilst leveraging on the power of technology, develop and implement new and innovative methods of talent acquisition, measuring performance through key metrics and continuously improving standards to meet the evolving needs of the Institute.
  • Partner with the people team on various recruitment projects and employer branding initiatives to position TBI as an employer of choice to attract and retain the best talent at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop a talent pipeline and talent pools to meet the critical hiring needs of the Institute and to significantly reduce the Time to Hire.
  • Engage successful candidates to present and negotiate, offers of employment and work closely with Hiring Managers and the business in making the hiring decisions.
  • Implement efforts to deliver exceptional candidate experience at all stages of the recruitment process, and to ensure that successful candidates have a positive and engaging experience in their onboarding to the Institute.
